LIBRARY WELCOMES DR. MICHELLE ESTEBAN AS NEW CHIEF LIBRARIAN
FEU-FERN COLLEGE LIBRARY welcomes Dr. Michelle Esteban as the new Chief Librarian. Dr. Esteban received her undergraduate degree from Far Eastern University and her Master’s and Ed.D. in Educational Management from EARIST. She passed her Board Examination for Librarians in December 1998. Dr. Esteban has always been a part of FEU, she started her career as Librarian in FEU-NRMF Medical Library in 1998. In 1999, she transferred in FEU Main Library. Three years later, she was offered and appointed as Chief Librarian in La Consolacion College Manila, a position she held until she gave birth on April 2006.

FEU-FERN COLLEGE AND BASIC EDUCATION LIBRARIES CELEBRATED LITERACY WEEK
Last September 22-26, the FEU-FERN Libraries organized the first “Literacy Week”. The whole week was packed with various activities for the FEU-FERN community such as story telling, book trade, book review, book fair and forum. In one of the activities, Mr. Greggy Santos of QTV Living it Up was the guest speaker for the “Art of Story Telling” intended for elementary and high school students. While for college students, Literacy Forum was organized. There were two resource speakers who graciously gave and shared their expertise on two different topics: Types of Literacy by Mrs. Ellaine Sarrosa and Read Filipino Literature in English by Mr. Hector Siringan. It was a successful event and the organizers were very thankful to the FEU-FERN community. COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT DAY
FEU-FERN College Library sponsored a “Collection Development Day” last September 8, 2008. Department Heads and Faculty members were invited to this one-day event as an opportunity to discuss with the Librarians the needs in their respective departments. The event was held in the College Library and refreshments were served.
All the Department Heads and some of their faculty members attended the one-day event, namely: Department Heads- Mr. Yolando Aguiba (BSIT/CS), Mr. Jonathan Navallo (BSA), and Ms. Lucy Sison (GEN. ED.); Faculty members- Mr. Roberto Palma, Ms. Elma Icogo, Ms. Lilian Bunuan, Ms. Mithi Sandalo, Mr. Jose Zoleta, Mr. Rommel Nacu, Ms. Bella Victoriano, Ms. Desiree Cruz, Mr. Ronaldo Reyes, and Ms. Rose Capadosa.
The Collection Development Day was a success and Library Staff were very much appreciative to those who attended the said event. Hope to see you again in our next Collection Development Day! Again, Thank you!

FORMER FEU UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN VISITED THE FEU- FERN COLLEGE LIBRARY

FICTION COLLECTION : books to inspire and entertain the readers
Second Trimester, SY 2008-2009 - the library started to build a fiction collection like pocket books and other inspirational readings. Fifty five titles are now available in the library to inspire and entertain readers. Please visit the Reference Section for the said collection... Happy Reading!

FEU-FERN STAFF WON 2ND PLACE ON THE CHRISTMAS CHORAL COMPETITION
Last December 19, 2008, FEU-FERN celebrated its Christmas Party attended by faculty and staff. There were raffles, parlor games and a live band playing simultaneously to set a festive mood. One of the activities was the Choral Competition which was the participated by four groups, the College Staff who sang “Carol of Bells” and “Ding dong! Merrily on High”, won 2nd place. The College Staff were composed of the following: Ms. Becky Almazar, Admission Officer; Mr. Reynante Bulawan, Admin. Assistant; Mrs. Jocelyn Casiño, Guidance Counselor; Mrs. Chit Cervantes, Assistant to the Dean; Ms. Janet Dela Cruz, Chief Accountant; Dr. Michelle Esteban, Chief Librarian; Mr. John Gammaru, Head, General Services; Mrs. Vanessa Damo and Ms. Andrea Mendoza, Registrar’s Staff; Ms. Ginalyn Lagartos, School Nurse; and Ms. Charisse Velasco, Elementary Guidance Counselor. The FEU-FERN College Library is pleased to announce the addition of the EBSCO E-journals: full text databases to the Library's collection of electronic information.EBSCO Host databases are the most-used web based resources that allow users to research online to numerous collections of active full text journals. These online databases are accessible at http://search.ebsco host.com or just visit the College Library and we will be very happy to assist you with your research.

LIBRARY IS WIFI ZONE

Wireless access is now available in the Library. Students and faculty can bring in their laptops and access the Internet. IP address is available at the Circulation Desk.
