FIRST TRIMESTER
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LIBRO SYSTEM
This library automation system is used to automate and to ease the library operations such as borrowing, returning of books, cataloging, indexing, online searching, etc. wherein library users will have an easy access on the information available in the library. Likewise, security panels were installed at main entrances of the two libraries. These panels will secure the library properties.
GUIDE MANUALS FOR USING EBSCO AND LIBRARY
The said manuals were created to help the students in using the library and accessing the EBSCO online journals.
LIBRARY TOUR
FEUFERN Library Staff went on a library tour at Miriam College and Ateneo de Manila University-Rizal Library last May 6, 2010. The Chief Librarian of Miriam College Library, Mr. Romy Sebastian welcomed and toured the staff in the entire building of the library. Likewise, Ateneo de Manila Rizal Library Director, Mrs. Lourdes David accommodated and toured the staff in the new library building.
SECOND TRIMESTER
LIBRARY CONSORTIUM
Dr. Michelle Esteban is spearheading the creation of Library Consortium together with Ms. Nancy Sering. This consortium will be composed of nearby schools in Quezon City. Last October 28, 2010, the first batch of Head Librarians from the Fatima University, Falcon Learning Center, NCBA and School of the Holy Spirit including FEU-FERN College have met to discuss the possible creation of a library consortium. Fortunately, all the representatives of the said schools are willing to join the library consortium. After the meeting, they went on a quick library tour.
RIZAL LIBRARY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
Ateneo de Manila University-Rizal Library successfully held a 2-day International Conference on “Library Spaces: Building Effective and Sustainable Physical and Virtual Libraries” last October 21-22, 2010 at Leong Hall Auditorium, ADMU. FEUFERN Head Librarians, Dr. Michelle Esteban and Ms. Nancy Sering attended the said event together with 300 participants from other libraries in the Philippines and abroad. Foreign and local speakers were experts on the topics assigned to them. Participants learned a lot from this conference.
THIRD TRIMESTER
LIBRARY FIELD DEMONSTRATION
Library Field Demonstration was the opening activity of the FEUFERN Libraries to start the festive mood of the 17th Foundation Week. The main objective of this field demonstration was to show the importance of reading. It was also done to make a library marketing video. It was held at the school’s open ground last 7th day of February at exactly 9:00 in the morning. Basic education and tertiary departments were united together for a very energy-draining groove and move but an exhilarating experience to remember as part of a wonderful library event. The dance was choreographed by Teacher Lea Lumapas of the Basic Ed. - P.E. Dept. The activity had not been successful if were not for the support of teachers, staff, student assistants, Heads, as well as the Administrators. Thank you everyone for helping us in this endeavor!
BOOK PARADE
FEU-FERN Library annually treats the Books as the center of attraction of every year’s celebration of foundation week. Students from Nursery to Grade 6 joined the Book Parade Contest that was held at the lobby last February 8, 2011. Wearing their favorite book character as they paraded within the premises of the school, students participated very bubbly.
POSTER MAKING CONTEST
Basic Education and Tertiary students participated with fourteen (14) entries. Each entry was judged by Prof. Alejandro Esteban, FEU-IARFA and Ms. Raquel Samson, Computer Studies-Dept. Head. Winners received prizes and souvenir t-shirt after the very tight and close battle of their art works. The winners were Mr. Eajon Carl Marx Diaz (1st place), Ms. Kristine Pasan (2nd Place), and Mr. Carl Vincent Balderas (3rd Place).
PUPPET SHOW
“Welcome to the carnival show!” was the theme of the third event of the FEUFERN Libraries. Kids were so excited with the magic show that also featured a mime artist. The said entertainment was enjoyed not just by the kids but also by the tertiary students and other parents that watched the show. It was held at the College Lobby last 9th of February. The show ended successfully with a blast of smiles from the audience.
STORY TELLING CONTEST
They were given eight (8) fairy tale stories to choose from and each contestant delivered his/her story before the audience. The opening remark was led by none other than the Directress of the Basic Ed, Dr. Miriam R. Garcia.
EPIC STORY DANCE CONTEST
It was time for the Tertiary Department to show their talent in interpretative dance of their chosen Epic story. It was held at the College AVR last Feruary 10. Four (4) groups from the different Literature classes of Prof. Ellaine Sarrosa, Prof. Hinampas, and Prof. Mario Udtohan participated in this contest. Each group was given 5-minute time limit to dance an epic story.
NEW TABLES & LENOVO NETBOOKS
Twelve (12) new tables were delivered last February to replace the dilapidated tables. These tables will surely make the library a nice place to study. Hopefully before this trimester ends, new chairs will arrive.
Additional five (5) Lenovo netbooks were also delivered to be used by the Professors in their lecture presentation.
EBSCO TUTORIAL TRAINING
Dr. Michelle Esteban conducted series of tutorial session in accessing EBSCO online journals in and out of the campus. Most of the students who underwent the training were the ones taking up the subjects either.
NEWSLIB: the FEU-FERN COLLEGE LIBRARY OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER
The College Library has released the 2nd issue of the said newsletter, which features library developments and programs.

The FEU-FERN College Library has initiated to create Library Consortium in nearby schools, colleges and universities, one of the main objective of the said consortium is to share library resources among members.
